in key cities decided to pool their resources in order to hire Simmons
Market Research Bureau to survey their readers. These statistics
were the first reliable demographics
for the gay market and helped these papers sell the gay market to
the national accounts.
Since 1988, the Guild has continued to provide solid statistics
to advertisers looking to target the gay community. Surveys are
conducted every four years to continually assess the demographics
of this market.
